First Communion
Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion is a two-year process that typically begins in 1st grade with the children receiving these sacraments in May of their 2nd year. See requirements below.

General Requirements
- Birth and Baptismal Certificates (due September 30, 2024)
- We require a copy of both the birth and baptismal certificate of every student in our Faith Formation program.
- Please submit certificates to office@gs-cc.org.
- Complete two years of sacramental preparation
- Attend Mass every Sunday and Holy Day of Obligation
- Attend weekly Faith Formation classes and any related parent meetings
- Learn the prayers assigned to the student’s grade
Year One Requirements
- Follow general requirements listed above
- Complete Year One Journal provided at the parent meeting (due April 30)
- We encourage parents to work with their children to complete the journal to help reinforce their learning.
Year Two Requirements
- Follow general requirements listed above
- Complete Year Two Journals (due December 7, First Reconciliation journal; and April 30 for First Communion journal)
- We encourage parents to work with their children to complete the journal to help reinforce their learning.
- Participate in two Parent/Child First Reconciliation Retreats on October 12 and November 9, 2024.
- Group 1: 10am – 12pm (both dates)
- Group 2: 1 – 3pm (both dates)
- Participate in two parent/child First Communion Retreats on February 8 and March 15, 2025.
- Group 1: 10am – 12pm (both dates)
